Abstract
This Law provides for complete set of rules as regards the wine production, grapevine production, and wine sector on the territory of the Republic of Croatia, including the rules determining competent authorities for the implementation of such provisions. These rules are divided into six main Parts, each containing its thematic Chapters. List of main Part headings is as follows: (I) Introductory provisions; (II) Viticulture and winemaking; (III) Flavored wine products; (IV) Authorization of laboratories and commissions for the organoleptic evaluation of wines, fruit wines and aromatized wine products; (IV) Control and supervision; (V) Misdemeanor provisions; and (VI) Transitional and final provisions. This Law ensures the implementation of several European Union regulations as listed in article 2.
The Law on wine also defines the necessary physicochemical and organoleptic properties of wine; categories of wine sector products; wine register; mandatory declarations and supporting documents for wine products; cellar entry and exit registers; acquisitions, protection and control of protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications and traditional aims and terms in the wine sector; wine labelling; regional winegrower and winemaker organizations and their premises; issues for the promotional and marketing labelling and presentation of wine; placing on the market and conditions for the sale of wine and wine sector products; administrative and field controls; administrative and inspection controls; and offences and penalty provisions (articles 98, 99 and 100).
