Decree No. 271 of 2001 of the Government on the amount of waste management penalty and on the method of imposition and determination of the penalty.

The amount of the penalty is calculated multiplying the basic amount of penalty, determined in this Decree, with the factor of correction. Paragraph 3 of Article 1 determines the maximum amount of the basic penalty, taking into account the gravity of the offence. The penalty can be levied by the authority of environmental and nature protection or, in certain cases, by the town clerk. The amount of the penalty can be reduced if the offender restores the original situation and puts end to the breach of rules before the due date for the payment of the penalty. The interested municipality is entitled to the 30 percent of the amount of the penalty. The Annex to this Decree sets out in details the method of calculation of the penalty.
