Abstract
The intention of this Law is to conserve genetic resources, provide for the recognition of new plant varieties, their use, rights and duties of breeders, producers, distributors and users of seeds and planting materials, as well as their production, classification, distribution, utilization and control. Unlawful use of varieties, adulteration of seeds and planting materials, misrepresentation of origin, breed, variety, identity, quality, deceiving the user or distributors of such products are prohibited by the Law. The production, classification, distribution and utilization of seeds and planting materials are supervised and administered by the Ministry and the National Agricultural Classification Institute. Offenders are liable to a penalty.
