Abstract
This Regulation, in order to implement the provisions of Article 26 paragraph (1), Article 37, Article 45, Article 46 paragraph (3), Article 47 paragraph (4), Article 51, Article 53 paragraph (5), Article 61, and Article 63 of the Government Regulation no. 66 of 2014 concerning Environmental Health, provides for detailing environmental health quality standards in air, water, food, soil and specifically: efforts to protect public health, technical requirements for waste management processes, control of diseases-carrying animals, procedures and efforts to reduce climate change’s threats, and to prevent natural disasters. The Regulation concerns: health requirements; drinking water; hygiene and sanitation procedures; recreational use of water; public bathing water; ambient and indoor air; soil quality; food and food additives; processed food ready to eat; diseases carrying animals; hazardous and toxic substances; waste management.
Matters covered by the Regulation include: definition of environmental health quality standards for air, water, food, soil and disease-carrying animals; healthcare measures and sanitation procedures; risk assessment and analysis; waste management and public health protection; monitoring and supervision procedures; specific requirements for waste originating from health service facilities; wastewater pollution; storage and transportation of waste; biosecurity measures concerning disease-carrying animals; use of One Health approach in the implementation of environmental health standards.
