Abstract
These Regulations give effect to Commission Decision 2006/405/EC and amend and extend the period of application of national Regulations implementing EU Safeguard Decisions controlling imports as a result of Avian Influenza. In the interests of animal health and in view of the existing epidemiological situation, it is necessary to ensure the continuity of the protection measures provided for in prior Decisions. Accordingly, the provisions in this Decision concerning the dates of application of those six Decisions should have retroactive effect.
