Abstract
These Regulations: provide for a designation "EEC fertilizer" and lay down criteria with which fertilizers marketed under the designation "EEC fertilizer" must comply. Regulation 4 sets out marketing requirements for EEC fertilizer. Where a person has on his premises any fertilizer to which these Regulations apply, which he has purchased and which he proposes to use in the course of his farming operations, he may apply in writing to the Minister to have a sample thereof taken for analysis. Other regulations provide for record keeping (6), powers of authorized officers (7), power of the Minister to publish results of analyses (8), certificate of analysis as evidence in legal proceedings (9), tampering with samples and other matters relating to offences (10-12).

These Regulations have been amended also in 1979 to modify the Certificate of Result of Analysis of a Fertiliser specified in the Regulations and in 1996 so as to provide for the marketing of the nitrogenous fertiliser, urea-ammonium sulphate and two secondary nutrient fertilisers - Magnesium hydroxide and Suspension of magnesium hydroxide.The Fertilisers, Feedingstuffs and Mineral Mixtures Regulations, 1957 (S.I. No. 264 of 1957), shall not apply to any fertiliser to which these Regulations apply.
