Abstract
The Regulations: (a) provide that seed potatoes (potatoes for planting) may be marketed only if they are basic or pre-basic seed potatoes as defined in regulation 2 and, with certain exceptions, sold in sealed packages or containers labelled with the prescribed particulars; (b) provide that seed potatoes may be imported under licence only if they meet the prescribed conditions; and (c) provide for the registration by the Minister for Agriculture of persons who carry on the business of packing seed potatoes. Regulation 3 defines the application sphere of these Regulations. The Minister, or any person or body authorized by the Minister for the purpose, shall be the certifying authority for the State for the purpose of these Regulations. Basic or pre-basic potatoes shall meet standards and requirements laid down in the Schedule.
