Legislative Decree 3 April 2006, n. 152 on Environmental Regulations.

This Legislative Decree regulates the implementation of the Law 15 December 2004, n. 308, as regards the following subjects: in the second part, the evaluation procedures; strategic environment (SEA), environmental impact assessment (VIA) and for integrated environmental authorization (IPPC); in the third part, the defense of the soil and the fight against desertification, the protection of waters from pollution and the water resource management; in the fourth part, waste management and remediation of waste contaminated sites; in the fifth part, the protection of the air and the reduction of emissions in the atmosphere; in the sixth part, the compensation for environmental damage.
This Legislative Decree has as primary objective the promotion of quality levels of human life, to be achieved through the safeguarding and improvement of general environmental conditions and prudent and rational use of natural resources.
This text provides for the reorganization, coordination and integration of the legislative provisions in compliance with the guiding principles and criteria referred to in paragraphs 8 and 9 of article 1 of Law 15 December 2004, n. 308, and in respect of international obligations.
