Abstract
This Act provides for the establishment of the Tea Board of Kenya as a body corporate, defines its functions, powers and internal organization and regulates the growing, manufacturing and exportation of tea and related matters. The Act consists of 26 sections divided into 8 Parts.
The Tea Board, established as a body corporate, shall consist of Government officers and a representative of registered tea trade organisations. The Board shall: (a) license of tea factories; (b) regulate, control and improve the cultivation and processing of tea; (c) control of pests and diseases; (d) monitor the trade in tea through registration of any person dealing in tea under this Act; and (e) investigate, research into, and coordinate training in all matters relating to the tea industry. Every tea grower shall register with the tea factory to which he or she delivers green leaf and shall be licensed by the Board. No person shall manufacture tea for sale except under and in accordance with a licence issued by the Board.
