Abstract
This Resolution establishes the following conditions and requirements for the importation of frozen and deep-frozen meat from countries free of the diseases indicated in list (A): (a) the exporter country must be free from the diseases indicated in list (A) for a period of at least 3 years from the last outbreak of the disease according to the official publication of the International Office of Epizootic Diseases; (b) slaughtering must be carried out in authorized slaughterhouses and is subject to official veterinary control; (c) the country of origin must apply the destruction policy of every herd affected with Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy; (d) the use of hormones and steroids must be forbidden in the country of origin; (e) residues from flesh and bones cannot be used for the preparation of feedstuffs; and (f) there must be in the country of origin a system for the control and detection of the diseases according to the standards established by the International Office of Epizootic Diseases. The cutting up and processing of meat must be done in an authorized factory and is subject to veterinary control. The meat must be accompanied with a bacteriological certificate, sanitary certificate issued by the country of origin and a quality certificate.
