Abstract
The text consists of 42 sections divided into 5 Parts: Administration (I); Coastal Zone Management (II); Permit Procedure (III); General (IV); Amendment and Modification of Certain Written Laws.
There shall be established a Coast Conservation Advisory Council and there shall be appointed a Director of Coast Conservation (sects. 2-10). The Director shall submit to the Council a comprehensive Coastal Zone Management Plan including matters set out in section 12. Section 16 provides for environmental impact assessment to be provided by applicants for permits to engage in developments activities in the Coastal Zone other than prescribed development activities. Coastal Zone is defined as "the area lying within a limit of three hundred metres landwards of the mean high water line and two kilometres seawards of the mean low water line and in the case of rivers, streams, lagoons, or any other body of water connected to the sea permanently or periodically, the landward boundary shall extend to a limit of two kilometres measured perpendicular to the straight baseline drawn between the natural entrance points thereof and shall include the waters of such streams and lagoons or any other body of water so connected to the sea" (sect. 42).
