Abstract
This Law stipulates general provisions on the protection of the population of Montenegro against infectious diseases.
This text closely determines the necessary measures for infectious diseases prevention, suppression and eradication, epidemiological surveillance, including quarantine rules; also sets out the competent entities for the implementation of such rules, further defining the way of providing funds.
Infectious disease as defined in this Law, is a disease caused by a specific causal agent that occurs as the result of the transfer of that agent or its toxic products from infected person or other possible vectors/reservoirs to the susceptible host, either directly from face to face or indirectly via contaminated food, water, general use items, transient host, vector or non-living environment and by exchanging fluid that is contaminated by the infectious agent.
Article 19 states that the protection of the population against zoonoses and foodborne diseases is organized and implemented in cooperation with the administration body responsible for food safety, veterinary medicine and phytosanitary affairs, in accordance with this Law.
