Abstract
This Regulation defines the correct, safe and controlled manner for performing the import and transit of equidae live animals as regards the territory of Montenegro.
Equidae animals, for the purpose of this text, are domestic or wild mammals with hooves belonging to the genus Equus of families of Equidae and animals formed by crossing of such species; equidae for slaughtering are equidae intended for transport to the slaughterhouse.
The import of equidae can be done if such animals are deriving from countries that are: free from African horse sickness; free in the last two years from Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis (also known as VEE); and free in the last six months from durine (Trypanosoma equiperdum) and male (Burkholderia mallei) animal diseases.
Minimum inspection and certification/identification issues are stipulated in the article 4; health certification requirements are listed in the article 5; transport and equipment issues present in the article 6.
This Regulation transposes the rules contained in Council directive 2009/156/EC of 30 November 2009 on animal health conditions governing the movement and importation from third countries of equidae; and Commission Decision of 25 July 1995 defining the categories of male equidae to which the requirement regarding viral arteritis.
