Abstract
This Law regulates the necessary conditions and manner for carrying out the veterinary field/sector activities, such as animal health protection, veterinary public health measures, veterinary protection in relation to the environment and/or environmental issues, as well as other relevant rules for performing the above mentioned activities (on the territory of the Republic of Montenegro).
Animals in terms of this text are: domestic ungulates and equidae (domestic bovine animals, including species of the genera Bubalus and Bison, pigs, sheep, goats and domestic ungulates including horses, donkeys, mules and mules); poultry (farmed birds, including chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, carrots, birds that are not considered domestic but are bred as domestic animals other than ratites); lagomorphs (rabbits, hares and other rodents); game (wild ungulates, ungulates or lagomorphs, other terrestrial mammals hunted for human consumption and considered wild game in accordance with regulations, including mammals living in a fenced area in wild conditions similar to those in which free game and wild birds hunted for human consumption live); other animals and birds non-poultry (animals and birds in the zoo, dogs, cats, bees, silkworms, wild animals, reptiles, laboratory and experimental animals); fish and other aquatic animals (marine or freshwater animals other than live bivalve molluscs and other molluscs, live echinoderms, tunicates and marine gastropods and all mammals, reptiles and frogs whether wild or farmed); shellfish and other molluscs (Lamellibranchiata that feed by filtration); snails (terrestrial gastropods Helix pomatia Linne, Helix aspersa Muller, Helix lucorum and species from the family Achatinidae). This Law further sets the terms for the effective organization and implementation of animal health protection principles (protection and control of the health and welfare of animals, suppression of the zoonosis effect/phenomena, safety control and health safety of products of animal origin and animal feed, and other activities related to the veterinary public health sector) also by improving the reproduction techniques; and further setting various issues regarding the inspection matters, data collection and reporting, hygiene-sanitary practices, animal registration, animal holder provisions and requirements.
This text further prescribes the offences and necessary penalties (see Chapter XVIII).
