Abstract
These Regulations apply to any movement and introduction into Malta of plant or plant products. The aim pursued is to safeguard against the introduction and spread in the territory of Malta of harmful organisms, which are defined as any species, strain or biotype of plant, animal or pathogenic agent injurious to plants or plant products. It shall be prohibited to introduce into Malta or move within Malta the harmful organisms or plants, plant products or other objects contaminated with the harmful organisms listed in Part A of Schedule I. Further prohibitions are laid down under regulation 4. Regulation 5 regards phytosanitary controls of production and movements of plant materials within Malta. The activities specified in regulation 6 (such as propagating, growing, trading or importation of plants) shall be carried out only upon prior registration in the official register. Regulations from 8 to 12 deal with plant passports and related authorizations. Regulation 13 regards protected zones.
