Abstract
These Regulations, made by the Minister under section 74 of the Fisheries and Marine Resources Act 2007, provide rules relative to the exportation of fish and fish products from Mauritius. An exporter shall be registered with the Division of Veterinary Services of the Ministry responsible for agriculture (“the Competent Authority”) and obtain a permit as required under section 25 of the Act. In addition, an export health certificate shall be obtained in respect of every single consignment of goods to be exported. Also storage or processing of fish or fish products intended for export requires registration with the competent authority. The Competent Authority may grant the application where the applicant complies with the criteria specified in the Second Schedule to these Regulations. The Competent Authority may, for the purposes of determining whether a registered person is complying with the Act or these Regulations, carry an audit inspection of the activities of the registered person. Other provisions of these Regulations concern, among other things, application for an export health certificate with the competent authority and inspection by authorized officers. The Second Schedule specifies hygienic and sanitary conditions and some other requirements for fish and fish products.
