Abstract
This Act establishes the Waste Water Management Authority, defines its functions and powers, contains rules relative to its internal organization and contains some provisions regarding the discharge of effluent or wastewater, drains, sewers and other works for the discharge of water.
The Authority is established as a body corporate, which shall be responsible for, among other things: (a) the waste water sector in Mauritius and the carrying out, monitoring, supervision, maintenance, management and control waste water works; (b) the control and monitoring of pollution, private sewers and the use of equipment in relation to waste water systems. The Authority shall also advise the Minister on any matter relating to the management of waste water. The Authority shall be administered by the Waste Water Management Authority Board established under this Act.
