Abstract
The text of the Act consists of 22 sections which are divided into 6 Chapters: Scope, application sphere and definitions (I); Production of slaughter animals (II); Requirements relative to operations and related matters (II); Requirements relative to the processing and use of meat (IV); Control and supervision (V); Enforcement, sanctions, entry into force (VI). The scope of the Act, proclaimed in section 1, is to secure the hygienic condition and quality of animals for slaughter, slaughtered animals and fresh meat during the whole manufacturing process. Furthermore the Act provides for the control of the observance of animal protection rules. The Act applies to: (a) production of slaughter animals; (2) slaughter; (3) chilling of meat; (4) killing, boning, and other mechanical treatment of meat including the cutting up; (5) the storage and transport of fresh meat; (6) meat control, and; (7) importation, exportation and placing upon the market of fresh meat. "Animals" includes all vertebrate animals except those animals defined as "fish".

Notes
Repeals the Act relative to slaughterhouses, meat industry and public meat control (No. 2 of 1957). Regulations issued under the repealed Act remain in force insofar as they do not contradict provisions of the present Act.
