Decree No. 299 of 1999 relative to protection of the coral reef.

This Decree aims at the protection of the coral reef against destruction resulting from fishing activities so as to preserve a beneficial environment for fish resources. Due attention shall be had when fishing in the vicinity of the reef. In specified areas use of certain nets which may touch the bottom of the sea is prohibited. The prohibition applies to both Norwegian and foreign vessels in the area the geographical coordinates are indicated in article 3. Enforcement of provisions of this Decree is based on section 8 of Act No. 91 of 1976 and section 9 of Act No. 40 of 1983. (6 articles)
