Abstract
This Decree applies to Norwegian fishing and whaling vessels in waters within the Norwegian jurisdiction, waters within the jurisdiction of a foreign state and waters outside the jurisdiction of any state (art. 1). Article 2 specifies the application sphere of the Decree with respect to various categories of vessels. Vessel groups having on board satellite tracking equipment approved in accordance with Decree No. 1592 of 1999 or, for the period of transition, prescribed by the Director of Fisheries (art. 3). Article 4 makes provision for communication of position of vessels via satellite. Vessels shall communicate at least once their position. Articles 5 and 6 concern non-functioning of satellite tracking equipment. The Director of Fisheries may issue further rules relative to the implementation, enforcement, or control of the present provisions. (10 articles)
