Regulation No. 1103 on organic production and labeling of organic agricultural products and foodstuffs.

The purpose of this Regulation is to ensure that agricultural products and foodstuffs classified as organic meet production requirements through environmental-friendly production and fair trade. The Regulation applies to processed and unprocessed vegetable/animal origin agricultural products and foodstuff for human consumption. The use of copper in the preparations of pesticides is not allowed in organic production. Provisions on organic production requirements, labeling and approval adhere to EU Regulations.
Milk produced from treatment with antibiotics or chemotherapeutic agents may not be used as feed for organic animals until after the fifth day after the last treatment. Areas of national parks, nature reserves and grazing in mountain birch forests and above the tree line, pasture of organic animals is permitted. Consignment of organic agricultural products or foodstuffs from non-EU countries must be reported within 24 hours of arrival. The Regulation includes the equivalent of inspection fees related to control of organic products (article 19). Non-compliance with this Regulation shall be subject to penalties in accordance to article 28 of the Food Safety Act.
