Regulation No. 1582 on mackerel fisheries in 2014.

Type of law

There Regulation establishes permission to Norwegian vessels to fish and land mackerel in 2014. It sets rules on group quotas for vessels in coastal vessel groups, fishing seine groups, fishing trawl groups, fishing in coastal vessel group, and authorized method of fishing. It is not permitted for Norwegian vessels to fish for mackerel in 2014 - however exeption is made to fishing and landing of 278 868 tons of mackerel in territorial waters and economic zone, fishery zone around Jan Mayen, the fishery protection zone around Svalbard and in international waters. Of this quantity 1 665 tons are allocated for research and teaching purposes, 1 500 tons for bait, and 5 000 tons for fish in northern Norway. Of this quantity, 55 774 tons may be fished in EU waters in ICES statistical areas VIa (north of 56 degrees 30 north), of which 22 179 tons may be fished in EU waters in ICES statistical areas IIa and VII d, e, f and h. Of the total quota, it is permitted to catch a maximum of 3 000 tons of fish in Norwegian waters of ICES zone IIIa statistics, whereby a maximum of 54 684 of the total quota may be fished in the Faroese fisheries zone.

1 January until 31 December 2014.
Redistributions dates may be granted by the Directorate of Fisheries between 1 August and 1 October 2014 within vessel groups (in adherence to article 22a), the amount of bonus quotas (art. 22b) and the total allowable catch (art. 22c).
