Abstract
This Decree-Law approves Council Directive No. 79/409/CEE on protected birds species, amended by: Commission Directive No. 91/244/CEE, Council Directive No. 94/24/CE and Commission Directive No. 97/49/CE. The aim of this Decree-Law is the preservation of the national biodiversity, through the protection of wildlife natural habitats and local biodiversity. It consists of 27 articles and 6 annexes establishing prohibited activity to be performed within protected areas. Illegal activity will be punished and sanctions are prescribed for offenders. Annexes list flora and fauna protected species.
