Abstract
This Decree-Law applies to all stages of the marketing of potatoes for human consumption, as well as to the production, control, certification and marketing of seed potatoes. It establishes: a) Names, quality requirements, labelling rules and forms of packaging to be complied with by potatoes for human consumption of the species Solanum tuberosum L. and its hybrids, intended to be marketed and consumed fresh, as well as the respective sanctioning regime; b) Rules on the production, control, certification and commercialization of seed potatoes. This decree-law transposes: a) Council Directive 2002/56/EC2002/56/EC of 13 June 2002 on the marketing of seed potatoes; b) Commission Implementing Directive 2013/63/EU of 17 December 2013 amending Annexes I and II to Council Directive 2002/56/EC as regards the minimum conditions with which seed potatoes and seed potato lots must comply; c) Commission Implementing Directive 2014/20/EU of 6 February 2014 determining the Union classes of basic seed potatoes and certified seed potatoes and the conditions and designations applicable to those classes; d) Commission Implementing Directive 2014/21/EU of 6 February 2014 determining the Union classes of pre-basic seed potatoes and their minimum conditions.
