Abstract
A basic enactment whose principle objectives are the conservation and development of game animals and the administration of hunting (sect. 1). The first chapter sets out general principles; chapter II regulates the exercise of hunting, in particular by requiring the possession of a licence (sects. 6 and 9). In chapter III the Act defines its geographical field of application (sect. 13) and the zones, periods and procedures to be respected. Chapter IV, "Hunting status", establishes four types of hunting area, each with its own legal status: (a) national zones (sect. 24); (b) social zones (sect. 25); (c) zones for associations (sect. 26); (d) tourist zones (sect. 27). Chapter V concerns repopulation areas and chapter VI envisages the introduction of training grounds.
The Act also sets out the offences, administrative and institutional framework by delimiting, among others, the competencies of the different government services and public bodies (chap. VIII) and the role of hunters' associations (chap. IX). The Act ends with final and transitory provisions (chap. X). In particular, the Act sets out the matters on which the Government shall issue regulations within 90 days.
