Abstract
This Law approves and amends the Government Ordinance No. 42 of 29 January 2004 on the organization of the sanitary-veterinary and food safety activity, adopted under art. 1 pt. III.1 of Law No. 559/2003 empowering the Government to issue ordinances, published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I, No. 94 of 31 January 2004, with the following changes and additions: the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority is the central authority veterinary and food safety, coordinating technical and administrative activity of veterinary and food safety services, organize and control activities performed. This Authority aims at protecting animal health, animal welfare, preventing disease transmission from animals to humans, the safety of food of animal origin intended for human consumption, sanitation animal feed and environmental protection in relation to livestock identification and registration except equines.
