Abstract
This Law regulates the goals and principles of energy policy and the manner of its implementation, the conditions for a reliable, safe and correct delivery of electricity and other energy and conditions for the safe and sustainable supply of customers, protection of energy customers, conditions and manner of performing energy activities, requirements for the construction of new energy facilities, status and scope of work of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia, renewable energy provisions and terms, further defining the concrete organization and functioning of the electricity market, natural gas and petroleum and petroleum products market and services, the rights and obligations of participants in the market , establishing ownership on networks of operators of the system, and monitoring over the implementation.
This Law further regulates the production, distribution and supply of thermal energy as energy activities. The provisions of this Law, in relation to the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, shall be interpreted and applied in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 and the Law on Ratification of the Treaty establishing the Energy Community
The Law is divided into XIV Chapters and 434 articles, including offences and related penalties.
Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force eight days after its publication in the "Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia", except for the provisions of article 98, paragraph 1, sub-paragraphs 1-3, article 99 and 225 (par 1, point 1) which shall apply from 1 June 2016.
