Abstract
The Act consists of the following Parts: Preliminary (I); Control of Import, Export and Transhipment of Meat Products and Fish Products (II); Licensing of Slaughter-Houses, Processing Establishments and Cold Stores (III); Sale of Meat Products and Fish Products (IV); Powers of Enforcement (V); VI, Miscellaneous.
The Act provides for the slaughtering of any bird, mammal, reptile or amphibian, fish included, and the subsequent processing, packing, inspection, import, distribution, sale, transhipment and export of meat and fish products; moreover it appoints officers to ascertain that resulting food is not adulterated or unfit for human consumption. No importation, exportation, trading or slaughtering shall be conducted in absence of a license issued by the competent Authority. Provisions are given on food vending and retailing.
