Order No. 12/T licensing fish farms.

An Order to provide for the granting of licences for the construction and installation of private, cooperative and mixed fish farms as hereunder described, upon such procedures and conditions as set out for each of them; categories of fish farms: (a) Conventional farms (defined as earthen or cement ponds or batteries of ponds constructed on land, using a freshwater supply for the protection of aquatic fauna and flora in inland waters); (b) Floating farms (defined as one or more floating constructions hoisted by ropes or supports or a net pocket hanging in water for rearing sea and inland water aquatic species. The latter farms are to be marked by small floaters in protected bays or small water flats, and with large or flexible floaters resistant to waves and wind, in free floating farms located in open water; (c) Coastal farms (defined as constructions on shore lands with marine water supply for the production of freshwater and marine fish species; (d) Covert farms (defined as covert areas for high-density breeding in ponds or cylinders whose waste waters may be re-cycled, in whole or in part, after purification in closed or semi-closed circuits. A covert farm may be either a coastal or inland water farm; (e) Sea farms (defined as farming constructions located in marine shore waters, encompassing part of the sea surface or sea-bed or both, for the produciton of marine fish species. This Order also prescribes production capacities, technical supervision, duties of the supervisors for each category of fish farms, as well as general and transitory provisions.
