Abstract
The objective of this Regulation is to define the rules and principles of raising and trading game and wild animals and their products. Individuals and companies are allowed to breed game and wild animals after obtaining permission from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Procedural details are given in the Regulation. Producers are obliged to establish and maintain the required surviving environment for these animals and to keep a breeding log for all the species in the site. Producers who wish to release such animals to nature after a specified period of time shall have the animals undergo a health examination. Provisions on how to handle a disease outbreak in the production sites are discussed in detail in the Regulation. Individuals and companies who wish to set up a zoo or circus are obliged to apply to the Provincial Directorates of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, together with the documents required in the Regulation, to obtain a permit. Individuals are allowed to keep live game and wild animals as a hobby, provided that the number does not exceed ten units for all mammals and reptiles, inclusive of cubs, but excluding predators and poisonous species. Winged species should not exceed fifty units. Individuals and companies who wish to be involved in the trading of wild animals should apply to the Provincial Directorates of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The provisions of this Regulation shall also apply to wild animals and products acquired from them which are protected by law and international agreements. This Regulation makes references to the Regulation on the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora in terms of restrictions and requirements of international trade in live wild animals and wildlife products listed in the appendices of CITES.
