Regulation on water audit and water losses control in irrigation systems.

This Regulation aims at efficient use of irrigation water, water saving, reduction of water losses and prevention of unauthorized use of water. This Regulation sets forth provisions on (i) development of irrigation systems, (ii) operation, maintenance and management activities to be carried out in irrigation facilities, (iii) appropriate irrigation methods, (iv) monitoring and evaluation, (v) responsibilities, (vi) obligation to provide information, and (vii) inspection and administrative sanction. The Provisional Clause 1 states that “Responsible institutions shall take the necessary measures to raise the irrigation efficiency to 55% within seven years from the effective date of this Regulation”.
