Law No. 3677-VI "On fishery, industrial fisheries and protection of fishing resources".

This Law establishes basic principles of the functioning and state regulation in the sphere of fishery, conservation and rational management of aquatic biological resources related to inland waters, internal sea, territorial sea, continental shelf and EEZ of Ukraine. The tasks of state policy in the sphere of fisheries shall be as follows: (a) ensuring food security; (b) conservation and raising the amount of aquatic biological resources; (c) protection and reproduction of aquatic biological resources; (d) promotion of aquaculture; and (e) observation of international fishery agreements signed by Ukraine (Art. 5). Fishery and other research institutions shall carry out the following tasks: (a) state monitoring of fishery stock; (b) data collection related to aquatic biological resources; (c) projecting and manufacturing of new fishing gear; and (d) elaboration of new processing technologies of aquatic biological resources (Art. 14). State monitoring and exploration of aquatic biological resources shall be performed with a view of sustainable use thereof (Art. 15). Some fishing vessels and some fishing methods can be prohibited with a view of stock enhancement of anadromous (sturgeon) fishes (Art. 19). Industrial fisheries shall be carried out in accordance with the established total allowable catch (Art. 28).
