Law No. 106/2016 on organic production, labelling, and inspection of organic products.

This Law aims at promoting the sustainable development of organic products and the efficient functioning of the market, while safeguarding fair competition, public trust and protection of consumer interests.
The Law consists of 9 Chapters: General Provisions (1); Objectives and Principles of Organic Production (2); Rules of Production (including sections on prohibitions in organic productions, agricultural production, production of processed food for animals, production of processed food, and suitability) (3); Labelling (4); Inspections (5); Trade with other countries (6); Information (7); Administrative Infringements (8); Transitory and Final Provisions (9).
The Law lays down the objectives and principles for all phases of production, processing, distribution, and inspection of organic products and the use of indicators in labelling and marketing. The Law is partially approximated with Council Regulation (EC) No 834/2007 of 28 June 2007 on organic production and labelling of organic products and repealing Regulation (EEC) No 2092/91.
