Abstract
With a view to protecting the environment against the hazards of ionic radiation, the present Law establishes particular measures applying to activities which involve the use of radioactive substances and radiation equipment.
These provisions shall be binding upon any individual or legal person which: (a) holds, transfers, acquires, uses, manufactures or installs radiation equipment; (b) carries out radiological research and mining works; (c) carries out milling, extraction, enrichment, sale, transfer, importation, exportation, lease and preservation of radioactive substances; or (d) treats radioactive waste, food and any product polluted with radioactive waste. A licence shall be compulsory to carry out the activities above-mentioned. Chapter II is devoted to the institutions that shall be in charge of implementing this Law and other provisions concerning ionic radiation. In particular, article 6 sets up the Commission for Protection against Radiation. Article 10 sets out penalties.
