Abstract
This Act regulates mining activities in Manitoba; it contains provisions on mining rights and leases, on mining and on licences and it establishes and regulates the Mining Board, the principal body responsible for the administration and implementation of the Act. Under section 2, the object and purpose of this Act is to provide for, encourage, promote and facilitate exploration, development and production of minerals and mineral product in Manitoba, consistent with the principles of sustainable development.
The Act consists of 248 sections and is divided into the following parts: Interpretation and application; Administration; the Mining Board; Licences; Airborne surveys; Claims (staking and recording, rights and conditions, grouping, required works, surrender expiry cancellation, disputes); Drilling; Mineral leases; Quarry materials; Surface rights use of lands; Pooling; Royalties; Collection; Statistical returns mine plans; Rehabilitation; Public safety and hazardous lands; Recording of instruments; Regulations; Offences and penalties and Transitional provisions C.C.S.M. reference.
