Abstract
The present Law enforces the Federal Environment Act of 7 October 1983. The Environment Office is the competent authority in the Canton. Furthermore, the Cantonal Council shall inform the public of issues related to the environment, whereas local townships shall do the same in regard of their jurisdiction. The text deals, inter alia, with air pollution, water pollution, protection against noise, hazardous substances, waste prevention and waste disposal. The text consists of 93 articles divided into 10 chapters as follows: General provisions (1); Division of tasks and competences (2); Waters (3); Municipal drainage and sewage facilities (4); Waste and landfills (5); Municipal waste (6); Execution of federal legislation in the sphere of the environment (7); Financial provisions (8); Proceedings and enforcement (9); Final provisions (10).
