Abstract
This Directive concerns certain categories of substances added for specific nutritional purposes in foods for particular nutritional uses, namely vitamins, minerals, amino acids, carnitine and taurine, nucleotides, as well as choline and inositol. Such categories are referred to in the Annex attached. Only the chemical substances mentioned under each specific category may be used in the manufacture of foodstuffs for particular nutritional uses covered by Directive 89/398/EEC. Other substances not belonging to the categories aforementioned may be used in the manufacture of foods for particular nutritional uses.
