Abstract
This Directive sets forth rules for the protection of chickens kept for meat production. The rules apply to rearing stock on holdings which have both breeding stock and rearing stock. Holdings must comply with the requirements specified in Annex I to ensure the welfare of chickens. Such requirements concern feeding, drinkers, litter, ventilation, heating, light and cleaning. Inspections shall be carried out as specified in Annex II.
