Abstract
This Act provides rules relative to the enhancement of plant health and the control of diseases affecting plants. The purpose of this Act is to maintain good plant health conditions and thus promote agriculture, forestry, horticulture and food production business conditions and food safety and product quality. Plants, plant products and other materials that may convey easily pests can be marketed, produced for marketing, stored and imported only by operators that are registered by the Inspection Centre for Plant Production.
Other rules of this Act concern trade in plant and plant products, measures to combat pests and prevent their spread, and supervision and control, also in collaboration with European Community observers. Export phytosanitary certificates shall be issued in accordance with this Act by the Inspection Centre for Plant Production and another specified authority. Existence or suspicion of existence of a pest or harmful organism shall be notified to the Inspection Centre.
