Abstract
This Law provides all necessary rules and requirements aimed to offer a complete fire protection on the territory of the Croatian Republic.
The system established by this Law (fire protection system) involves planning for fire protection, also prescribing measures for fire protection of natural and artificial goods, setting up entities for fire protection, mandatory enforcement for fire protection, fire protection funding, training and accreditation, with the aim of protecting life, health and safety of people and animals and the safety of goods, the environment and nature, with socially and economically acceptable and prevented fire risk.
The measures provided by this Law will further apply to: prevention of the fire risk; early detection, notification and containment and effective fire fighting; safe rescue of people and animals endangered by fire; prevention and reduction of the harmful effects of fire; determining the cause of the fire and the elimination/reduction of its consequences to the environment.
The Law is divided into 12 Chapters and 72 articles, including all offences and related penalties.
The Annex is an integral part of this Law.

Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force eight days after its publication in the Official Gazette, except for the provisions of articles 28, 29, 30, 31 and 32 which will enter into force on 1 October 2011..
