Governmental Decree No. 140 of 1999 on the production, marketing and labelling of agricultural products and foodstuffs according to the requirements of organic production.

This Decree determines the rules of activity and control of ecological (biological) farming and thus, it ensures a fair competition and the protection of consumers' health. It aims to the development of ecological production and thus, to the protection of the environment. The provisions of this Decree applies to the conditions and coordination of ecological production, to the packaging and labelling of such products, to all persons and organizations involved in the production, treatment and marketing of these products, to the authorization and activity of controlling and certifying bodies.
