Abstract
These Regulations, made under section 14 of the Sea-Fisheries and Maritime Jurisdiction Act 2006, implement Council Regulation (EC) No. 1224/2009 and Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 404/201. Those Community Regulations concern fisheries control systems and rules for the recording of fish catches. They appoint the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA) as the Single Authority for the purposes of Article 5(5) of the Council Regulation and Article 46 of the Commission Regulation and the competent authority for other provisions of those Regulations. Other duties are assigned to other public bodies. The Regulations set out requirements on fishing vessels for complying with Council and Commission Regulations and provide for derogation from Vessel Monitoring Systems and Electronic Recording of information granted by the SFPA.
