Legislative Decree No. 308 implementing Directives 2002/53/EC, 2002/54/EC, 2002/55/EC, 2002/56/EC, 2002/57/EC and 2002/68/EC concerning the placing on the market of seed materials and the catalogue of varieties of agricultural plant species.

In implementation of the applicable Community legislation, this Legislative Decree updates the relevant national provisions concerning, on the one hand, the placing on the market of seed materials, and, on the other hand, the catalogue of varieties of agricultural plant species. The references contained in the relevant national legislation (namely Act No. 1096 of 25 November 1971, Presidential Decree No. 1065 of 8 October 1973 and Act No. 195 of 20 April 1976) to Directives 66/400/EEC, 66/403/EEC, 69/208/EEC, 70/457/EEC and 70/458/EEC shall be meant hereinafter as references to the new Community provisions in force indicated in the title of this Legislative Decree. Moreover, article 3 supplements article 26 of Presidential Decree No. 1065 of 1973. In accordance with new article 26-ter, the marketing of seeds certified as oleaginous and fibre plants in the form of plant associations shall be allowed.
