Abstract
The Law determines principles for energy efficiency in Latvia. Its purpose is rational use and management of the energy resources to promote sustainable development of the national economy and restrict climate changes. The Law prescribes energy efficiency planning and monitoring requirements; tasks of the ministry responsible for the achievement of the energy efficiency targets; action of the State and local governments for the achievement of the energy efficiency targets; tasks of the obligated party; requirements for energy auditing; efficiency conditions for energy production, transmission and distribution; measures for the development of the energy efficiency services market; and responsibility for the non-fulfilment of the requirements of this Law.
