Abstract
This Law here regulates the conditions and sets the standards to be respected when placing agricultural products on the market (internal and international), including the classification criteria and organization of producers for such scope, and further defines the measures and interventions of importance for that market and type of products.
This Law applies to the following agricultural products: cereals and cereal products; sugar and products derived from sugar processing; rice; dried fodder plants; hops; olive oil and olive oil; fruits and vegetables; processed fruits and vegetables; bananas and banana products; wine; living trees and other plants, bulbs, roots, cut flowers and ornamental foliage; tobacco and tobacco waste; flax and hemp; beef and veal meat; pork meat; sheep and goat meat; eggs and poultry meat; milk and dairy products; ethyl alcohol of agricultural origin; bee products; seeds; fats and oils of plant and animal origin (other than olive oil); and some other agricultural products here not listed).
This text further determines several issues regarding the agricultural producers and their associations and cooperatives (see Chapter III, titles are: goals of organizing the manufacturer; recognition of producer organizations; registration of producer organizations; association of producer organizations; inter-sectoral producer organizations; contractual relations). the major aim is the achievement of at least one of the following goals: production planning according to the needs of market demand, quality and quantity product; consolidation and placing on the market of agricultural products of members of the organization, including direct sales; rationalization of the costs of production and return of funds invested for the protection of life and environment, animal welfare and general price stabilization of agricultural products; conducting research on methods of sustainable production, innovations in production and ensuring competitiveness on the market; promotion and provision of technical assistance for the application of good agricultural practice; encouraging and providing technical assistance to improve the quality of products and encouraging the production of products with official protected designation of origin or a protected designation of geographical origin label; management of by-products and waste, protection of water quality, land and incentives for biodiversity; ensuring sustainable use of natural resources and mitigation of climate change; promotion of agricultural products and their placing on the market; providing financial resources for the implementation of operational programmes in fruits and vegetables sector; providing technical assistance for the use of future markets and insurance systems.

This Law enters into force eight days after its publication in the Official Gazette (except for the provisions of articles 25, 27, 28, 31 and 32 which shall apply from 1 February 2020).
