Abstract
This Law empowers the States to make Ordinances for the purpose of protecting plant health, including providing for the imposition of restrictions on the movement of certain plants and plant products, the control of noxious and invasive plants and the imposition of temporary measures aimed at containing and preventing outbreaks of specified plant pests. The Law sets out specific matters for which Ordinances may make provision, including registration of plant traders. It will enable Guernsey fully to comply with its obligations under the International Plant Protection Convention and to introduce provisions that are consistent with current requirements for trade in this sector with the European Union.
