Abstract
This Order approves the Regulation for gillnet fishing. The Regulation consists of 1 chapter and 2 annexes establishing the requirements to be satisfied in order to perform the aforementioned activity. The Regulation specifies minimum mesh size to be used, authorized fishing areas, etc. Gillnet fishing within 1/4 nautical miles from the baseline is not allowed; between 1/4 and 1 n. mi. is allowed only to vessels not exceeding 9 mt and is not allowed fishing activity within 1 n. mi. from the Madeira's EEZ baseline. For areas exceeding 15 n. mi. bottom trammel net fishing is permitted only with mesh exceeding 240 mm. Annexes specify different classification of fishing gear categories and target-species.
