Delegated Decree No. 44 laying down the Code on the Environment.

This Delegated Decree lays down the legislative framework concerning the protection of the environment. It sets out general rules and principles concerning the authorities which are responsible in this field and their duties. Further it lays down detailed provisions governing: waste management; protection of human health against asbestos; protection and management of water resources; protection of air quality and prevention of emissions and air pollution; prevention of noise pollution and electromagnetic pollution. Further the Decree regulates the procedure to be followed to carry out Environmental Impact Assessment. Penalties are set out as well.
