Abstract
This Regulation lays down rules for the care and accommodation standards for aquatic vertebrate animals used for scientific and training purposes; the establishment of a competent authority responsible for the care and welfare of animals; the operations of breeders, suppliers and users; the use of animals in procedures; the competence of personnel of breeders, suppliers and users; and certain obligatory elements of the application for authorization. This Regulation shall not apply to non-experimental aquaculture practices and practices undertaken by approved and authorized aquaculture facilities. This Regulation is drafted in line with the Directive 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes.
