Abstract
This Act makes provision for the registration, licensing, transfer and mortgaging of ships and other matters relating to navigation by ships registered in Trinidad and Tobago. The 414 sections of the Act are divided into 25 Parts: Preliminary (I); Restrictions on trading in Trinidad (II); Registration and Licensing (III); National character and flag (IV); Transfers, mortgages, liens (V); Miscellaneous (VI); Manning and certification (VII); Engagement of seamen VIII); Official logbook and logs (IX); Collisions and safety (X); Application of Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (XI); Load lines (XII); Carriage of bulk cargoes (XIII); Dangerous goods (XIV); Seaworthiness (XV); Wrecks and salvage (XVI); Passenger ships (XVII); Legal proceedings (XVIII-XXIV); Final and transitional (XXV).
